Chainsaws are a glorious gas-powered celebration of human ingenuity and achievement. All folks who aim to use one need to know exactly what they are doing or danger can be found quite easily. For those who know who to handle a chainsaw, here are seven versatile uses for the powerful invention.
Cutting Down Trees
This is the most obvious of all possible uses for a chainsaw. Cutting down trees to clear space for development or other growth is essentially what chainsaws were initially created to do. An efficient, well-oiled chainsaw will cut through timber much like a knife thorough warm butter, but with a lot more sawdust involved.
Turning Trees Into Firewood
Before the days of the chainsaw, turning a fallen tree into a nice stack of firewood was a task that would take an entire weekend and a whole lot of muscle. With the benefits of a good chainsaw, the entire process of cutting large pieces of wood into smaller, more manageable ones can be achieved in astonishing time.
Dismantling And Demolishing
There are literally millions of old structures all around America that have aged to the point of being not only unsightly, but actually dangerous. When taking apart an old structure, chainsaws can be used to expedite the process, and get a structure down to Earth will much less effort than using handsaws or other methods.
Rescue Operations
Fire Departments and emergency rescue officers of all kinds are often equipped with a specialized chainsaw that is designed to slice through the firm metals and steel of automobiles in the event of emergency situations. Cutting through roofs and doors is sometimes necessary to extract people who have been in accidents.
Cutting Through Stone
One might think that using a chainsaw on a material such as rock or concrete would be a disaster waiting to happen. Yet heavy-duty, specialized chainsaws have been designed for industrial use, and are equipped with a water line which minimizes the blade’s impact on the sturdy yet breakable surfaces.
Juggling
Over the past few decades, performers of all kinds have pushed the limits of achievement and risk, and many folks have become skilled at juggling chainsaws while they are turned on, full-throttle. Naturally, this isn't something that should be tried at home, but rather appreciated in Las Vegas, or other tourist destinations.
Making Art
Believed to have originated in the dense forests of the Santa Cruz mountains in California, carving sculptures using chainsaws has been growing in popularity and skillfulness in the past few decades. Common mediums include redwood and ice.
