Here's seven great ways to build trust in your relationship. Many times, what really makes relationships work aren't the most obvious. For instance, do you go along with the old line of "variety is the spice of life"? If you do you could be wrong, predictability and stability are far more important than variety in a relationship. The following seven tips are going to strengthen your connection by improving the trust in your relationship.
1.).. As mentioned above, you need to be predictable. This goes against common belief that you must "spice things up" to keep the romance burning. Of course going to a different restaurant or surprising your love with a gift is nice, but most of all, we need to know things will be solid and steady to make our relationships work. Consider that trust in your relationship is built on being reliable every day, without fail.
2.).. You need to be certain your words match your message. Your words need to match your body language. If you say you are happy but there's a frown on your face, your love will not hear the words but only see the expression on your face. Your partner needs to be able to hear and believe what you say in order for them to trust those words. When your words match your message you build long lasting trust.
3.) ..You need to believe, and show, that you believe fully in your partners competency. You will not build the trust in your relationship that you need if you do not show belief. When lovingly and honestly told, the truth should never be destructive. If you do not believe your partners competency at some things (or anything for that matter), you will destroy any trust in your relationship.
4.).. Secrets are trust destroyers. They will kill any trust in your relationship. Being honest and open is the best policy. Learn to believe that everything you know your partner will know, if not now then later. Secrets require effort on your part that could be used to build your relationship.
5.).. Don't shy away from letting your lover know what you want and need. If you leave them to guess chances are they will guess wrongly. It's ok to be a bit self-centered as long as this doesn't develop into total selfishness. If you fail to let them know what you want then you run the risk of going in the opposite direction and smothering your partner.
6.).. If you want to say no, say no. It's a good thing that your lover can voice their needs but you don't have to say yes to everything. Your lover will learn to not respect you if you never say no. They need to hear the word "no" as well as themselves saying the word "no". This will serve to build much more trust in your relationship.
7.).. Try to always grow your relationship. You can't plant a flower without digging some dirt. The same can be said for your relationship. Dig some dirt, cause some pain. Through that pain we are preparing for growth. Don't be afraid of questions or turmoil, don't be afraid of a crisis. They can become the fertilizer for the growth of your relationship.
When you work on building the trust in your relationship, you will encounter a little pain. As you work through this pain you will not only become stronger as a person, but also as a couple.
