Rocket Languages - Rocket Arabic Review
In searching around for a fast and easy way to learn Arabic, I kept a few things in mind:
-
Remembering the horrors of foreign language classes in school, I sought a language education program that didn't rely on memorizing translated phrases or dictionaries
-
I wanted to practice speaking the language right away, learning at a level I was comfortable with, and progress steadily into a greater understanding of the Arabic language
-
Without the time or resources for private language lessons or regular classes, I was looking for something low-risk that I could follow on my own schedule
I chose to try out Rocket Arabic because the program's learning style seemed ideal - you approach the basics in an interactive, conversational way, progressing to more advanced and more rewarding lessons the more you learn. They also offer a 60-day money back guarantee, so I knew that by wasting no time listening to and speaking the Arabic language, I could verify Rocket Arabic's usefulness to me or return it.
Component #1: Learn to Speak Arabic Confidently with 31 Interactive Audio Lessons
The 31 audio tracks in the first module average 20 minutes each. I threw them all on my iPod, and spent the next two weeks gradually going through the more than 11 hours of material in the first module. There's transcripts of every track included, and I found that by listening and speaking with just the audio, then looking over the material I had been covering later on, I was keeping myself focused both on the spoken language and it's written form. (I didn't bother trying to decipher the Arabic writing so early on, it was beyond me anyway...)
I made general greetings, asked directions, and gave compliments - quickly grasping on my own the basics of structuring simple sentences and experimenting with combinations of words I'd learned but not heard phrased properly before. (As I learned more later on, I corrected comparatively few mistakes).
Component #2: Learn to Speak Arabic Naturally with 31 Language and Culture Lessons
Progressing to the second module, I found a lot more stuff to sink my teeth into. The 31 Language and Culture Lessons of Component 2 really helped me learn more about the structure of the language, which enabled me to start reading Arabic, and even get a head-start on writing Arabic script as I went along! I had been at it for only three and a half weeks and I knew what the previously funny-looking squiggles I was drawing actually meant!
At this point I started thinking about the money-back guarantee. I was still only learning simple Arabic phrases, and though I certainly was using and understanding the Arabic language, I didn't feel as though I could really keep up in an Arabic-speaking crowd, which was what I had really been looking forward to doing.
It was the Arabic vocabulary and spoken language comprehension games, the interactive quizzes and self-tests, and unlimited 24/7 access to the Rocket Arabic Learner's Forum that made me decide to keep the program, and I knew I had gotten an incredible value on the resources I now had available to me.
I continued with the Language and Culture Lessons, periodically using what I had learned, going back over stuff I'd forgotten, and was soon using phrases so expertly that I'd often go an entire few minutes talking to someone in Arabic before they discovered that I was still only learning!
Component #3: Learn Tons of Arabic Words with fun MegaArabic Software Games
I started using the two MegaArabic games, MegaVocab and MegaAudio, before I had gone through all the 31 lessons of the second module. I was still listening to the audio and practicing the spoken language here and there, as well as spending time adding more words to my vocabulary with MegaVocab and improving my language comprehension with MegaAudio.
I'm still using these two programs, adding new words to MegaVocab and practicing my Arabic language skills all the time. Rocket Arabic features lots of little quizzes and self-tests, and I'm steadily improving my scores as I progress through the entire program. As I started testing myself, I noticed several small mistakes and mispronunciations I had been making, and I've been able to smooth out the progress I've already made - becoming more and more natural speaking the language.
Learn To Speak The Arabic Language Online With Rocket Arabic
As a total beginner, Rocket Arabic kept me interested as I grasped the basics, continued to challenge me while providing new material and ways to learn, and provides excellent personal support by experienced, natural Arabic speaking teachers.
I strongly recommend this program for anyone with a serious interest in learning to speak the Arabic language.
