If you are thinking about learning to speak English, there is perhaps no better place to do it than in New Zealand.
With its beautiful scenery, relaxed lifestyle, rich culture, friendly people, affordability and overall quality of life, there is no wonder that people travel from the furthest parts of the world to discover and experience its shores.
Most notably, it’s not just one part of New Zealand that makes it so special, but rather all places combined. If you prefer the warmth over the cold, then the north island is your best shot. Auckland is the gateway to the north island and is by far the biggest city in the country. Best of all, it has a very multi-culturally sensitive community, one that makes anyone’s decision to study English that much easier.
Being that Auckland has over a quarter of the country’s population means that the chances of finding employment are much higher. This in itself makes the "city of sails" such an appealing place to live. Many of those who have headed over to Auckland to study English have remained there several years later.
A lot of New Zealanders would prefer to be living outside of the big cities like Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, but unfortunately the majority of people have to go where the work is. Most of New Zealand’s largest company’s head offices are situated in Auckland, so moving there is often the only option.
Many Asian people decide to study English in Auckland because of the city’s large Asian population. To many, it’s like moving to a city back in their homeland, only less crowded and with a much higher quality of life.
There is a lot to do outside of studying in Auckland. Fortunately, there are several highly popular places within a couple of hours driving distance from Auckland. Many locals head away for the weekend to the likes of Hamilton, the Coromandel and Mount Maunganui. In winter, you can drive about 5 hours south and go skiing on Mount Ruapehu.
If you haven’t seen much or any of New Zealand, then you must visit the south island. Here is where you’ll find some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, particularly in Fiordland, which features Milford Sound, one of the world’s best natural wonders of the world.
If you do decide to move over to New Zealand to study English, you won’t be disappointed. The educational resources are excellent, the people are friendly and the country is even better.
