I was emailed by someone today who said that the reason she already believed so much in hypnotherapy was because she had read that Rachmaninoff had benefitted from it. Rachmaninoff had reached an impasse with his composing after his 1st symphony was panned terribly, and he underwent some hypnosis and came out with his Piano Concerto no 2.

This lady said that she realized then that hypnotherapy couldn't turn Rachmaninoff into, for example, the inventor of the steam train, but it could turn him into Rachmaninoff, and she doubted if anything else could have got him going again. It was this example which had come to her attention that made her even consider the use of hypnosis herself.

I doubt that anyone wakes up one morning and thinks "Gee, I think I'll use hypnosis to get me going on this"! Hypnosis, unfortunately, is not a household term or something which most of us even think of, let alone consider using. It cannot help but pique our interest though when we read that Rachmaninoff, Kevin Costner, Thomas Edison, Winston Churchill and Albert Einstein are amongst the many famous and successful people have used hypnosis.

As my friend pointed out, hypnosis is not going to get you to become a rocket scientist if this is not your field of expertise. But if your problem is that you have reached a mental block or you are lacking in self-belief or you would like to lift your mood then hypnosis provides a simple, natural, straight-forward and effective tool for positive and powerful intervention.

If you could do with a change of either attitude or habit hypnosis will help, so long as you want it to. If you would like to tap into your more creative right brain functions and use your imagination more effectively hypnosis will help here as well. Hypnosis in fact will help with anything at all which has a psychological perspective which means that there are not many things in which it cannot play a powerful role.

Hypnosis should be a basic household term; it should be something we all aware of and can all use. Unfortunately for many it is still thought of as a kind of mystical thing, instead of a tool which has natural and powerful therapeutic value. If you have used hypnosis, please do tell people about it; spread the word. If you haven't thought of trying it, please do so; there are no negative side effects, you have nothing to lose, and so very much to gain.
