In preparing to give an informative speech, you must give much consideration to your main objective. Doing this will keep you focused on the main thing- what you want your audience to gain from your speech. In multilevel marketing, your primary purpose is to first get your audience to believe in you and secondly, you will want them to purchase your product or service. How are you going to do this? Do you just keep them laughing? Or do you just want to educate them about your product or service? To some extent, these categories of persuasion, entertainment and information sharing overlap, particularly since you want to borrow elements from each of them to maximize the effectiveness of your speech. Outlined below is the substance of all types of speeches. You will know how to present information in a way that will help your audience understand the product or service you are offering. There are four essential elements that must be mastered.

Essential Element #1 is Information. Much attention has been given to the various types of speeches. A great deal of skill must be acquired if you are planning to give a persuasive or an entertaining speech. In order to deliver an effective persuasive speech, your knowledge of your product or service must be unshakeable and you must have lawyer-like skills of speaking. In order to deliver a predominately entertaining speech, you will want to develop a sense of humor.

Regardless as to whether or not your speech is persuasive or entertaining, its primary purpose is to provide the audience with information to one degree or the other. This is critical for multilevel marketers. Since most of what we do as multilevel marketers is to convince people to purchase our products or services, we will narrow our focus to persuasive speech making.

In order to convince people to purchase your product or service, you must convince them that it will solve their problems or ease their pain. As a multilevel marketer, you will surely have the occasion to need the skills to deliver an informative speech, no matter how short. If you are given this opportunity, it is probably because people believe in you and that you will give them a fair and thorough understanding of how your product or service will help solve their problems. Remind yourself of that when you pick and choose among the available facts and information about your product or service.

Essential Element #2 is research. Before you make your speech, make sure you give yourself sufficient time to research your topic. Even though you may be very familiar with the product or service you are going to talk about, look at all of the available information available to you. This will prepare you to answer any and all questions posed to you. Even if you consider yourself an expert, you may find new information about your product. Conducting the proper research will give you an added degree of confidence with your presentation, thereby creating the desire in others to want your product or service and duplicate your efforts.

Essential Element # 3 is how you structure your speech. Most speakers know that there are three components to any speech. They are the introduction, the body and the closing. As you structure your speech, keep in mind that it has been said that the opening and closing paragraphs are the most important parts of your speech. As such, they require a great deal of your preparation time. You'll want your closing to be connected to you opening. So, your opening must be an attention getter. The old military adage applies here - "tell them what you're going to tell them, then tell them, and after all of that, tell them what you've told them". These are three distinct parts of your speech, but I submit to you that that the body ("what you're going to tell them") is of utmost importance. Your opening and closing will mean nothing if the information you provide does not connect the two.

Essential Element #4 is your opening. Now that you have taken care of your introduction, body and closing, it is time to focus on how you are going to open your presentation. Your opening has to reflect your personality. I say this primarily because there are no set protocols for the opening of your presentation. If you've taken the necessary steps as outlined above and you know your audience, you can do practically anything to open your speech within reason. Many speakers begin their presentations with a joke, an anecdote or even a quotation. It does not matter whether or not, you do cartwheels, sing like Frank Sinatra, you can be sure that everyone will be paying attention to you. This being the case, make your opening so powerful that your audience will stay with you until you reach your closing.

In multilevel marketing, speech making can make the very difference between your success or failure. Using the essential elements described above, will give you a great deal of credibility. Once you've gained the respect and confidence of your prospects, you will want to show them how to market their products most effectively.
