When you have had a baby, caring for a newborn can leave you so exhausted that you don't feel like doing most things, especially working out. This means that it is highly unlikely that you will take time to go to your gym or to go for a run or even go outside. Plus, having a new baby means you need to be there for your child at all times. This means that you need to find both motivation and time to work out. Here are some things that are easy to do in your own home, when you have a few free minutes, that will help you drop the weight you gained while you were pregnant in no time at all. What could be better than that?

Leg Kicks: This is a wonderful exercise for raising your pulse rate and it gives you fantastic abs. This exercise starts with you lying on your side with your waist slightly bent into a pike position. Bend one leg to help you hold your balance and straighten your top leg and bring it forward as far as you can. Keeping your leg up, bring it back so that it hovers over your bottom (bent) leg. Don't lower your leg but repeat the movement ten times. Then, roll over and repeat. Do this thrice on each side and you'll quickly see results.

Pilates: Pilates probably seems slow but it burns at least two hundred calories per hour.

That is a lot of calories for doing only a few stretching movements. You can find some videos online or you can buy a DVD (or a book) that will teach you a few moves that you can do while your baby is asleep. Laying on your back with your knees bent is one of the best post natal exercises you can after you give birth if you want to lose weight. Breathe in and put your hands behind your head. Then let your air out while you lift your shoulders and head off the floor (while simultaneously contracting your abs). Then, move your legs into a forty five degree angle while you extend your arms, keeping your palms down. Pump your arms in a rhythmic manner while inhaling for five beats. Then use five beats to breathe back out. Try to do 100 of these each day and you'll be in fantastic shape in no time!

The classic crunch is an exercise most people already know how to do that helps greatly. To do a crunch you simply lie on the ground with hand behind your head and knees bent. Next inhale through your nose and exhale as the abs tighten lift your head and shoulders off the floor. As you do this bring the ribs towards the hips and relax the bottom. Slowly return to the starting position. As you work at doing these correctly also work at increasing the number you can do from a few to upwards of 50. After you reach fifty you can begin to add weights to add difficulty. These exercises, if done often enough, can reveal dramatic results in just a few short weeks. You can do them while your baby takes a nap and you can break up your workout to doing several exercises throughout the day instead of trying to do everything at once. Of course, if you do them all at once (or any exercises) for a 20-30 minute block of time three times a week will help you shed the pounds even faster. So if you do these exercises as often as your body can handle it you'll get back to your pre-baby size in no time.
