Not all people are convinced about using a professional interpreter for business meetings and international conferences. But, how can a person get a great impression of other people with different languages and cultures, without using a professional language interpreter?
In order to understand what interpreting is all about, people need to know the difference between interpreting and translation processes. Although interpreting and translation require the same basic skills, they both consist of different specialisations and knowledge. Just as translators, professional interpreters should have linguistic knowledge and should be familiar with the culture and heritage of international and local backgrounds.
In addition, Interpreting is more a process of effective conveying a verbal language into another language. There are several field of interpreting, but it is necessary that interpreters should only accept a job if the job is in the right field of their expertise.
What interpreters and language students should know is that, interpreting services does not only involve linguistic expertise but also high knowledge about the industry, and he or she should also have also sensitivity about cultural differences between people.
Furthermore, conducting interpreting business services is one of the most important trends in the industry nowadays. Due to the accelerating globalisation in the world today, international conferences and business meetings are set to be multilingual; and this is how interpreting services are needed, to ensure that the right message is conveyed and understood by people. Unfortunately, offering interpreting services is beyond a business, rather this is a serious negotiation aiming to communicate effectively.
Seeking help from a reputable language company that offers interpreting services is not easy these days. There are several translation and interpreting companies offering linguistic services, without any exact specialisation and professionalism. Hence, it would be tricky if clients will just hire them without further knowing and checking the background of the company and knowledge of translators and interpreters.
Although the world is experiencing multilingualism, reaching understanding and aiming for an effective communication is possible, however, due to the wide usage of translation and interpreting services in the world today, communication and understanding is more easily achievable by people.
It may be a fact that languages are easily learnt and acquired in school today. But having knowledge in languages alone, with poor knowledge about business fields will not help anybody in interpreting a message from one language to another. It should be noted that these particular skills are really essential in order to convey a message accurately. If a linguist meets these essential requirements, it would be easier for him/her to attract clients to conduct business with him/her in the near future.
