Presentation skills have become increasingly important in the business world today. With the growth of teams and work-groups, communications have become critical factors in job and project success. While knowledge and competency in core functions related to particular jobs is still a major consideration in hiring and retention, the ability to transmit that knowledge and to work effectively with others has rapidly come to the forefront in management and development at all levels.

As communication skills have become increasingly important, the development of presentations and the need for equipment to effectively deliver them has grown. Presentation sound systems are needed for larger audiences and venues. These can include portable sound systems or integrated sound systems, depending on the nature of the business. For companies where presentations tend to be largely internal, developing a conference or presentation facility in the physical plant can pay off handsomely. Integrated systems developed by professional audio system providers offer flexibility and high quality sound for voice and music presentations. Many providers also offer systems which integrate seamlessly with other presentation hardware. Such systems are often called integrated lectern systems, which offer storage areas and connections for projectors, computers, and other presentation materials. These lecterns can also be wired or wireless systems for portability and easy layout changes. Consideration should be given to the mobility needed by speakers during presentations as well. The option of wireless receivers to support wireless microphones allows a speaker the ability to move to various positions on stage or around a room. In groups where numerous displays will be used, this is highly advantageous. The ability to fully and personally interact with the attendees at a presentation can greatly enhance satisfaction and retention of information.

The use of multiple forms of media also greatly enhances the interest in and retention of information presented. Utilizing integrated systems makes it easier to present in video, audio, tactile interactive demonstration and question response methods. As these allow all learning styles to be accessed it is most effective to present with combinations of these methods. Of course, it is important to be heard and seen in a manner that can be clearly understood by the audience in all areas of the presentation locale. This requires sound planning in facility design and presentation design. If these are not your areas of expertise, seek out professional help for your audio systems design and you’re A/V system design. As noted before, systems for any application needs are readily available from full line dealers. Whether your company requires a fixed location system, an adaptable system or a fully portable system, be sure to get equipment which will enhance your presentations and increase their effectiveness within your target groups. Professional presentation skills can only be used to their fullest when the facilities are up to the task. Remember the six "P's" - Proper Prior Planning Prevents Possible Problems.
