Every so often I get the urge to say "Out with the old!! In with the new!!" The problem used to be "What do I do with the old?" until eBay! Unlike the yard sale, which is becoming quite retro, eBay doesn’t require you to put everything in your front yard and barter with neighbors. And you can potentially make much more if you know how to sell on eBay.

Organized Cleanout

People who are reorganizing their lives for one or more reasons often turn to eBay.

These include folks who are moving, whether across the city or the country or from a larger to a smaller dwelling place, and have decided they don’t want to pack and move things they already aren’t using; people working with professional organizers to purge their homes and garages and offices of items that serve only to take up space; and those going through major life changes like divorce, the death of a loved one, or relocating an aging parent into a care facility.

They may also fall into the infrequent-user category, but they probably have many more items to dispose of, and might therefore be willing to invest a bit more time and effort for the chance to earn some income to offset their expenses. In cases like this, eBay can be an invaluable tool, since it really doesn’t take a lot of effort to put together an attractive listing that will net them far more for their items than a moving sale (where buyers may try to take advantage of someone’s stated deadline by making very low offers to "take this off your hands") or a PennySaver or Craig’s List.

If you are an infrequent eBay user, this is the perfect place to pick up some tips. You might even find it helpful to know these tips when you are buying on eBay. It helps you appreciate the process and makes you a smart eBay bidder!! And of course, if you have a lot to sell, you may want to consider taking an eBay class!
