Like most of the kids, I hated my stepmother without any reason. Although my biological mother was dying of cancer, I thought it was my stepmother that made me lose my biological mother. Therefore, I was always irreconcilable with her at home. Usually, father was vexatious between us. But my 12 years’ old birthday changed my attitude towards her.
Actually, I always made troubles with her in daily life. For example, I did not eat the dinners that she cooked and told my father she put more salt in purpose. I stained my clothes prepensely but told my father she did not clean it. I tried to get sick when my father was out, because I wanted my father to believe that she abused me. When I saw that my father blamed her, you could not imagine how gloating I was. Consequently, I thought that my stepmother must hate me as deep as I was.
Especially, when she gave birth to a son, our contradictions increased. Moreover, it seemed that father’s love to me is not as much as before. Father’s love to my younger brother made me jealousy and hatred. Hence, I detested her more and more. I tried to make more troubles to her. Sometimes I saw her crying; I would smile secretly. However, for everything what I did I feel really sorry at my twelve years’ old?
May 17th, 2002, it was my birthday. But I was very depressed, because my father could not come back due to his busy work. My sadness reached peak and I closed myself at my own bedroom. On the one hand, I was sorrow that my father was out but he accompanied have the former 11 birthday. On the other hand, I missed my deceased mother. If my biological was still here, without father I still could have a happy birthday. However, without father, the existence of my stepmother made me feel that I was an orphan. Tears filled with my face and blurred my eyes.
At that moment, I heard that the song "birthday". I was strange, because except stepmother and my little brother there was nobody. I came out to see what happened. What I saw stroke me in all my life. I saw almost all my good friends were here singing "happy birthday to you". I turned to my stepmother because I did not invite anyone of them. My stepmother smiled and said "Your gift were in the backyard, I just want to give you a surprise. So I invited your friends in secret." My mind is a complete blank at that moment; my friend held my hands and covered my eyes to lead me to my backyard. When I opened my eyes, I almost cried out. What I saw at that moment impressed forever. I saw a huge birthday cake but it was not a usual cake. Its diameter was 15ft and it was 17ft high. Yes, it was not only a birthday cake but also it was a birthday cake bouncer. I remembered that I told my father to buy a bouncer for me. A hand gently touched my shoulder. It was my stepmother, which she said moved me so deeply that I cried out in her warm hug. She said "sunny, I hope you can as happy as your name, I knew you are a cute girl but you were sad recently. I just want to tell you for me you are my daughter forever and your father and I will love you forever. I heard that you want a bouncer so I bought it to you as your birthday gift. I wish you would enjoy it and to be a happy girl from now on."
I remembered that night my friends and I jumped up and down on this birthday cake bouncer . we were like a group of blissful angles. It became my most unforgettable birthday. Movingly, I saw my stepmother’s love is
bouncing.
I really love the birthday cake bouncer that my stepmother presented it with me. when I play in it I feel that my my stepmother's love is bouncing.
